Prescriptions
We aim to make the process surrounding prescriptions as simple as possible for our patients.
Repeat prescriptions
If you are on long term medication you may obtain a repeat prescription via the following methods:
- The NHS App
- By posting a repeat slip in the practice’s letterbox
- Or a handwritten note with Name address, Date of Birth and items required will suffice
- Box in reception
- Via your pharmacy – please arrange via your nominated pharmacy
Prescription orders are not taken by telelphone.
Please allow 48 hours for processing and checking via a doctor before a repeat prescription can be issued. This means 2 working days and it excludes weekends and Bank Holidays. You can also submit repeat prescriptions through your local pharmacy.
Only repeat medication is to be requested by the defined methods. If you request a medicine which is not on your repeat prescription, a hand written explanation detailing reasons of your request is required. It can take longer than 48 hours for these prescriptions to be issued as this has to be checked by a healthcare professional to ascertain if the request is appropriate. You may be contacted by a member of the practice team with advice.

- It is important to order your prescription before running out of medication.
- To order, indicate the required items on the slip and return it to the surgery.
- We aim to process prescriptions within 48 hours, but during periods of high demand, it may take up to 72 hours.
- Prescriptions can be collected on weekdays during opening hours.
- Acute prescriptions can be collected from the practice by arrangements for urgent prescriptions i.e. Antibiotics
- Routine repeat prescriptions can be collected from your nominated pharmacy.
Please be aware that we cannot accept repeat prescription requests over the phone.
Medication reviews
Patients who are on repeat medication are required to schedule a consultation with a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse once a year to review their regular medications. This notification should appear on your repeat slip.
To prevent any delays in receiving further prescriptions, please make sure to book an appropriate appointment in advance.
