When We Are Closed
If you need urgent advice, please telephone the Hywel Dda Out-of-Hours service on 111.
You will then either be able to speak to a health professional or they will return your call. They will then assess your problem. Instant advice can be given and that may be all that is needed. You may be invited to attend the special out-of-hours GP treatment centre at Prince Philip Hospital. You will be told exactly how to reach the centre. This makes it easier to assess your condition and easier to treat you. The centre is open at varying times and by appointment only. A home visit will be made if it is decided that your condition or illness prevents you attending the out-of-hours centre.
If it is a medical emergency, the message handlers and doctors are in direct contact with Ambulance Control so an ambulance can be despatched.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
