Appointments at Meddygfa Tywyn Bach

All requests for appointments are triaged by the clinical team. To do this, the reception team will ask for a brief description of your problem. This will be put in for a message and a clinician will call you back. If an appointment is needed this will be booked on the same day. Alternatively a request for a call back can be made by using our digital platform – Econsult. Please click on the Econsult icon on our home page.

Once submitted you will be contacted within 48 hours of the request but we aim to contact you the same day.

The triage request line is open from 8.30am.

Appointments with the nurse and healthcare assistant are pre-bookable for morning and evening surgery.

eConsult

eConsult is an online questionnaire that provides self-help advice and/or submits an electronic form to the GP Practice to avoid contacting via telephone or in person. The eConsult is allocated appropriately within the Practice and the patient is provided with a response via text and/or email to inform them of when they will receive a response from a clinician if necessary. If an appointment is required the patient will be informed via text and/or email. Administration queries can also be dealt with such as sick paper requests and test results.

Self care?

Before scheduling an appointment, it’s crucial to assess the type of health concern you are experiencing. If the issue is minor, self-treatment at home may be a feasible option. Utilizing home remedies like taking a hot shower, using a heating pad, or applying a cold compress can help relieve symptoms.

Over-the-counter medications like paracetamol or ibuprofen can also be effective. If you determine that self-treatment is insufficient, then scheduling an appointment with your doctor should be considered. However, for minor ailments such as a mild headache or a cold, it may be more appropriate to visit your local pharmacy initially.

To begin with, the NHS 111 offers a user-friendly online symptom checker, which can help determine whether self-treatment at home is possible.

If you cannot administer self-care, please contact the surgery to book an appointment.

Our appointment lines are open after 8:30am.

Our goal is to reduce patient waiting times to see a clinician.

However, in certain circumstances, such as being an extra to a surgery, you may experience a longer wait than anticipated. We appreciate your patience as we strive to assist all of our patients to the best of our ability.
